all about
In the beginning God created the family. Scriptural counsel clearly outlines the foundation for families when Eve was created as a companion for Adam; when they were told to be fruitful and multiply; and to bring up their children with an obedience to the Word. The Bible defines the familial roles for husbands, wives, and children. Indeed, the family is God’s masterpiece; a testament of his love. Families provide love, cohesiveness, and unity. As a team, families confront and deal with concerns and problems. There is strength and comfort in numbers. Who knew that better than our Heavenly Father? I love, adore, cherish, and respect my family. I have always seen my role to maternally and solidly provide guidance, wisdom, protection, and teaching. I ask and pray for God’s love, support, direction, and blessings as we as a family lovingly, diplomatically, and obediently move progressively forward as a united front. We need each other today, tomorrow, always! Prayer strengthens us; it always has; it always will! Let the family say Amen! Happy Sunday! God bless!

PostHeaderIcon Nothing beats going home!

By Vernalee
99% of the time, I fly from Cleveland, Ohio to Jackson, Mississippi and rent a car to travel to my home, Glen Allan, Mississippi which is off the beat and path. This time, however, it was a road trip, a caravan of multiple cars – and what an adventure it was. Laughter, talking, reminiscing from my nieces and daughter …. filled the car. I remember my Cleveland, Ohio pastor who is a native of Cleveland, Mississippi talk about his family’s road trips to Mississippi. On their pilgrimages, Pastor Harris said his Mother would pack shoe boxes filled with crispy fried chicken , lemon pound cake accompanied by a loaf of bread. Somehow, that day old chicken tasted like it had just come out of the frying pan! We didn’t have the chicken and cake, but we had a car full of love! It is amazing how the 1000 mile trip becomes a family sedative; a pill of forgiveness, and an antidote of burying the emotional hatchet that has been carried within our family for years! Sometimes, you can carry bitterness for so long that you cannot remember from whence it came! Sadly, sometimes the uniting factor that most often brings all family members together is death. Today, this fourth Sunday in September, I call for family love, support and unity. It certainly beats the dysfunction of its alternative; chaos and hostilities.

PostHeaderIcon Nothing beats the sight of loving siblings!

Nothing pleases a Mother’s heart more than to see her children display love to each other and to their family members. I am “tickled pink” to see my son and daughter lovingly care for their Father and nurse him back to health. It is gratifying to my soul. Equally gratifying is their extraordinary love for each other as siblings. It is absolutely adorable! Gone are their juvenile days when they argued like cats and dogs over trivia stuff! Gone are the olden days when they
did childish things, – as the time when my then teenage son placed his baby sister fully dressed in a cold shower to cool her off since she wouldn’t obey him! Geez! Through all of their silliness, they were always incredibly close; always protective of each other. Now they are all grown up and they display impressive maturity. A united front they are! Their genuine love, sincerity, and respect for each other are as deep as the Mississippi River is long! Still waters do run deep! Surely, seeing the depth of their love today makes me proud to be their Mother! What more could I as a Mother ask for!

Family Comes Together
by Glaedr
“Family comes together
For always and forever
In sickness and in health
In poverty or in wealth
Family comes together
For always and forever
Without any reason
Anytime or any season
Family comes together
For always and forever
In death or in life
In happiness or in strife
Family comes together
For always and forever
In anger or in kindness
Whether all seeing or in blindness
Family comes together
For always and forever
Whether for work or for play
They somehow find a way
For family to come together
Because families are forever.”

As much as family can make us upset, we need them and their love! Think about that at the next family fight or argument that is inevitable to occur!
