This first Sunday in March, I say, "Thank you Lord for blessing me and my children/grands. Thank you for blessing us!" I remain grateful for everything. There are not enough words to thank you. Amen.

As we come to a close for celebrating Black History Month, nothing is better than giving honor to God! “This little light of mine” is a song that does just that. A Negro spiritual regarded as one of the Civil Rights anthems, the lyrics are indeed inspirational.
“Some claim the song takes its theme from Jesus' remarks to his followers. Matthew 5:14-16 (the King James Version) reads : "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." The parallel passage is found in Luke 11:33. Conclusively, the song reflects a global longing to be seen as a good person trying to make the world a better place.“ Many civil rights meetings in the 1960’s and 70‘s included singing “This Light of mine,” “ Go tell it on the mountains,” and ”We shall overcome” as all held hands for unity! We have always prayed to God for his love, mercy, grace, and covering! And he has always delivered us!

From the days of slavery, one of the only freedoms that we as Black people had was to lift our voices and enjoy the sweet harmonies of music. Just like the Israelites, we often prayed to God to uplift us out of bondage. This morning, I bring you a selections that has been a dominant and meaningful song over the years - "Wade in the Water."
