Many of you I'm sure have heard the phrase, "Stick a fork in me. I'm done." The saying is used to indicate that one or something is finished, complete, or no longer able to continue.“ Symbolically derived from a cooking metaphor, the phrase refers to the practice of testing how thoroughly a piece of meat is cooked by piercing it with a fork. In other words, “Is the meat cooked - done?”
Many situations in life have placed us in the position to throw up our hands and say, "I've had enough! I'm done!” Thus, you stop doing whatever it is that you are doing and with whom. The courage to stop doing something or dealing with someone, (particularly if the act or person are toxic), demonstrates maturity, growth, and your willingness to change and place yourself in a different and better situation. So, imaginatively sticking that hypothetical fork and uttering those words. "I'm done" is not a bad thing at all. Those words in fact may be your saving grace!
