THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN COMMUNICATION IS HEARING WHAT IS NOT SAID

My Mother told me years ago, “God gave you two ears and one mouth for a reason.” Wise words, I’ll say. The underlying message is to talk less and listen more!

It’s been said that “the most crucial aspect of communication is understanding the unspoken emotions, intentions, or underlying messages that are not explicitly stated through words but conveyed through body language, tone of voice, or silences. We should -

  • Focus on non-verbal cues.

  • Focus on deep listening: (Hear

    what isn't said).

  • Focus on Effective communications.”

Listening to hear what is not being said is a skill that takes practice. It can only occur when we talk less and pay attention. The payout can be extremely helpful in improving our communications skills and bettering relationships.
